More than 1.5 million dehumidifiers are being recalled due to fire and burn hazards, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) said this week.

The recall involves 42 models of dehumidifiers sold under the brand names Kenmore, GE, SoleusAir, Norpole and Seabreeze. They were manufactured by Gree Electric Appliances, Inc., between January 2011 and February 2014.

According to the CPSC, Gree has learned of at least 23 fires, 688 incidents of overheating and $168,000 in property damage related to the faulty units. The dehumidifiers were sold at Home Depot

Lowe’s

Menards, Sam’s Club, Sears, Walmart
WMT,

and other retailers nationwide, and were priced between $110 and $400.

A full list of the faulty models can be found on the recall notice.

The CPSC advises consumers to immediately stop using the dehumidifiers and unplug them. Owners of the units can contact Gree for a refund.
