The Lyriq’s appeal begins with an almost suspiciously strong mix of range, charging, power and pricing figures. But after driving it a couple weeks you realize the numbers are just half the story. The Lyriq is smooth and responsive around town, comfortable and controlled on the highway, and has a stylish, roomy, feature-filled interior. Oh, and it can all but drive itself with the excellent Super Cruise system.

to some degree, but none comes close to offering 300 miles of range for less than $60,000, and none outranks the Cadillac on our list of best electric luxury SUVs.

2024 Cadillac Lyriq pricing

The 2024 Cadillac Lyriq starts at $57,195. The mid-range Luxury trim begins at $61,295, and the top Sport model starts at $61,795. The Lyriq is a bit more expensive than the smaller Tesla

  • Lyriq Tech: $57,195

  • Lyriq Luxury: $61,295

  • Lyriq Sport: $61,795

These are the manufacturer’s suggested retail prices and don’t include the $1,395 factory-to-dealer delivery fee (destination charge).

Before buying a Lyriq, check the Kelley Blue Book Fair Purchase Price to know what you should really pay. We expect Cadillac Lyriq resale values to trend about average for the segment.

What’s new for 2024?

Now in its second model year, the Cadillac Lyriq has a more fleshed-out model range for 2024. In addition to the Luxury trim, the affordable Tech trim and stylish Sport trim join the lineup. The Lyriq Tech is value-oriented with a nice list of standard features and a sub-$60k starting price, while the Sport model is primarily an appearance package in addition to what comes with the Luxury trim.

The expanded model range also comes with several new wheel and paint options, plus new interior and tech options like a Nappa Leather Package, tri-zone climate control, heated rear seats, a panoramic power sunroof, adaptive headlights, and more.

From the archives (Sept. 2021): This new Cadillac model sold out in about 10 minutes

Driving the 2024 Cadillac Lyriq

Even single-motor, rear-drive Lyriq models have 340 horsepower and can scoot to 60 mph in just under six seconds. That’s quick enough to tackle any real-world situation with ease, but the 500-horsepower, dual-motor, all-wheel drive models are about a full second quicker for those so inclined.

Like most EVs, the Lyriq moves away from a stop smoothly, quietly, and with an addictive sense of effortlessness. On the highway, the Lyriq combines a comfortable ride with a confidence-inspiring sense of control. The heavy batteries that power electric vehicles make it a challenge to deliver a good balance of both, but we’ve found the Lyriq exceptional in this regard.

Then there’s Super Cruise, one of the best — arguably the best — semi-autonomous driving systems we’ve tested. This feature (optional on Luxury and Sport) allows for comfortable hands-free driving on over 400,000 miles of North American roads. Spend enough time with a system like this and you may never want to live without it. Trust us. Super Cruise is a weighty tie-breaker at the very least.

High-tech interior

The 2024 Cadillac Lyriq has a high-tech interior with a modern design. Thanks to the long wheelbase and the battery packaged into the floor, we found the passenger space generous in both rows of seats. A fixed-glass roof is standard, adding to the airiness of the interior, and a panoramic power-opening sunroof is optional.

The focal point of this interior is the 33-inch display, capable of emitting more than one billion colors. We found the Google-based interface user-friendly, and it’s packed with features like wireless Android Auto and Apple
AAPL,
+1.73%
CarPlay.

The cargo space in the Lyriq is about average for a midsize SUV, but we wish it had a front trunk like some of its electric rivals. If only because everyone likes to say “frunk.”

Standout exterior

The 2024 Cadillac Lyriq’s modern design hints at its futuristic technology. The sleek, sloping roofline and unique light signature make it look not quite like anything else on the road. We’re especially fond of the new Sport trim with its stylish grille design and tasteful Obsidian Chrome accents.

In terms of size, the Cadillac Lyriq is on the bigger side of the midsize electric luxury SUV segment. It’s a bit bigger than the Audi e-tron and BMW iX.

Our favorite features and tech

Super Cruise
The Super Cruise hands-free driving system is one of the most advanced semi-autonomous driving aids on the market. Enjoy relaxed, hands-free driving on over 400,000 miles of compatible roads in the U.S. and Canada. On one 200-mile highway road trip we had our hands on the wheel for maybe five miles total.

Up to 314 miles of range
Every configuration of the Lyriq has an estimated range of over 300 miles on a full charge. And a capable public DC fast charger can add up to 77 miles of range in about 10 minutes.

Cadillac Smart System
This standard safety tech suite bundles automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, rear park assist, Teen Driver mode, a safety alert seat, and more. Blind zone steering assist also comes standard.

33-inch LED display
A rich 33-inch display serves as a digital gauge cluster and a user-friendly infotainment system with features like wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay and a 5G Wi-Fi hotspot. Upgrade to the AKG Studio 19-speaker audio system to enjoy this infotainment system to the fullest.

Nappa Leather Package
This option package makes the interior of the Lyriq more luxurious with Nappa leather seats and armrests, plus illuminated front sill plates and Dark Ash open-pore wood trim.

Sport trim
The new Sport trim adds some daring style to the Lyriq with Obsidian Chrome and dark accent finishes, body-color door handles, and a unique illuminated front grille.

Engine and transmission

The 2024 Cadillac Lyriq lineup features a choice of two powertrains.

Single Motor: The standard powertrain in the 2024 Cadillac Lyriq is a single electric motor powering the rear wheels. It makes plenty of power for most drivers, and the electric torque delivers quick acceleration. We’re also impressed with the estimated electric range of 314 miles on a full charge.

102 kWh battery
340 horsepower
325 lb-ft of torque
EPA city/highway fuel economy: 97/82 MPGe
Estimated range: 314 miles

Dual Motor: The dual-motor powertrain improves the performance of the Lyriq and only sacrifices seven miles in its estimated range. If your budget allows it, this is the one to get if exciting performance is part of your reason for buying an EV. All three trims of the Lyriq are available with the dual-motor powertrain.

102 kWh battery
500 horsepower
450 lb-ft of torque
EPA city/highway fuel economy: 96/81 MPGe
Estimated range: 307 miles

4-year/50,000-mile warranty

The Cadillac Lyriq is backed by a 4-year/50,000-mile basic warranty and a 6-year/70,000-mile powertrain warranty. That powertrain warranty is among the best you can get from a luxury brand. Additionally, you get an 8-year/100,000-mile battery warranty and complimentary maintenance on your first visit.

Our test model

We’ve tested several Lyriq models, including this single-motor, rear-drive Luxury trim.
