is in early-stage discussions to live-stream a celebrity golf tournament, a move that would mark the streaming platform’s first venture into live sports, the Wall Street Journal reported on Monday. The Journal said the broadcast of the tournament, which would take place in Las Vegas and feature pro golfers and Formula One drivers, would allow Netflix to test out its new advertising segment, and engagement more broadly, without having to pay up for a bigger sports league. The potential move into live sports — which traditional TV channels have increasingly leaned on to draw audiences — would follow Netflix’s live broadcasts of a Chris Rock stand-up special and a reunion of its “Love is Blind” dating show, the latter of which was marred by delays. Shares of Netflix were up .05% after hours.
